Erin Calhoun

Kinesiologist & Canine Osteopath

Erin’s passion as a movement therapist began with her own journey as a patient. As a child Erin participated in competitive dance and soccer, leading to a knee injury at the age of 11 and her first visit to physical therapy. It was at this time that her interest in how the human body works was sparked. Movement, in particular ballet and modern dance, soon became more than just a hobby. After college Erin returned to the capital district and reunited with her dance mentor as a member of the newly established modern dance company, Nacre. Throughout her dance career Erin sustained several more injuries whose symptoms were always treated the same way…anti-inflammatory meds and physical therapy, but the injuries never truly healed, and her body was now in chronic pain.

It wasn’t until she began her studies at A.T. Still University that she understood the power the human body possessed to heal naturally. Andrew Taylor Still was a physician who founded the practice of Osteopathy in the late 1800s after the loss of his children to meningitis. Still believed the body possessed the power to recover from injury and illness when in proper functional alignment.

These principles were then adapted to treat animals by Stuart McGregor, founder of animal osteopathy, in the 1980s. So after nearly a decade in practice as the owner of Albany Holistic Kinesiology Erin was inspired by her love of animals, dogs in particular, to expand her business so she could treat them with the same holistic approach. Erin completed the International Diploma in Canine Osteopathy through the London College of Animal Osteopathy in June 2026 and formed Holistic Movement Integration, a practice that looks at the body as a whole, rather than individual parts, that works cohesively to maintain alignment and function.
